Wedding flowers
Solo or combined
When you think of weddings, floral combinations often come to mind. In bridal bouquets, table decorations, or floral backdrops, flowers are frequently mixed. But sometimes, less is more. Roses speak for themselves – often, nothing more is needed. But have you ever used Campanula on its own?
That’s when details really stand out. A leaf that leans slightly, or simply: too much is too much. In this respect, we can learn a lot from Japanese floral art. Which flowers do you occasionally choose to showcase entirely on their own?

Rosa ‘Effie’ – with shades of amber, apricot, and fresh orange. Discover the delicate tea fragrance and the warm summer radiance.

And what if you prefer a mix? Different flowers can complement each other, enhance one another, or create exciting contrasts. Play with colors – or keep it deliberately calm.

Ambassador and master florist Milles Fleurs created this arrangement in a bowl with two shades of anthuriums and peonies.

Combining flowers is sometimes almost like mathematics. Do the varieties even go together? How do their vase lives differ? One flower holds well in floral foam, while another can hardly be inserted. Some varieties can be wired easily – with others, it’s better not to even try. For important orders, a sample arrangement is often a good idea. Something customers don’t always consider. Yes… it’s not without reason that we speak of the FLORIST’S expertise!

Getting married in the height of summer
Tips for warm days
On warm days, it’s better to play it safe with a hand-tied bridal bouquet. But before you know it, such a bouquet can become bulky and heavy for the bride. With this ultra-light frame – easy to make – you’ll have a complete arrangement in your hands with fewer stems. A nice side effect: the flowers stand out even more!
Sturdy flowers like protea and protea foliage are ideal for warm wedding days. They come from South Africa and are used to the heat! Also consider using parts of succulents or cut echeverias – surprising and heat-resistant at the same time.
Lena Hartmann, runner-up at the German Florist Championship 2025, created this bouquet for the July issue of Florieren!

Cardboard as a base, dried foliage such as cordyline or banana leaf as a refined touch.

Simply glue the leaf strips onto the cardboard collar.
