GUEST BLOG | The magic of Roselily lilies: a surprise discovery in my flower shop

Thursday 22 June 2023

As the owner of a flower shop, I’m always doing everything I can to offer a diverse and fascinating selection of flowers to my customers. Even so, there has always been one flower that didn’t really do it for me: lilies. The stains caused by their pollen, their overwhelming smell and their sober, simple shape meant that these flowers never really appealed to me. As a result, I only ever ordered them in upon request.

“But that all got turned on its head when I was introduced to a remarkable variety called Roselily, thanks to FleuraMetz.”

An unexpected encounter
To my surprise, I discovered that FleuraMetz had added Roselilies in a range of colours to my order. The one thing I noticed straightaway was the protection in the form of small nets around the flowers — the same protection used for some types of chrysanthemums. Surely, this was going to be an interesting and huge flower! Some of the flowers had only just started to open, but I could already see just how many petals were just waiting to burst out.

The magic of Roselily
That day, lots of customers — both regulars and newcomers — ended up leaving my shop with Roselilies. Some of them were lily aficionados who were delighted to find a new variety on the shelves, while others were attracted by the ‘double lily’ name. With my curiosity well and truly triggered, I kept one stem to myself to see how this flower was going to develop.

An enchanting spectacle
The Roselily lily resembled a stunning waterlily, with a subtle fragrance and without the annoying pollen that causes all those stains. Slowly but surely, I started to appreciate why this flower is used in the emblems of kings. But the main thing that swept me away were the colours.

A new passion
I have to admit: the Roselily variety has captured my heart. From now on, I’ve always got Roselily in stock at my shop, as it leaves a lasting impression on me and my customers.
