INSPIRE | DIY: romantic Christmas Star
Many florists have already started sprucing up their floral arrangement with Yuletide greenery. These traditional Christmas wreaths and arrangements are, of course, a must in the holiday season. Still, designing original creations can be quite a challenge. This combination of dark red Rhodos roses and strong Yuletide greenery gives us plenty of energy!
After all: there is no reason for red roses to be restricted to Valentine’s Day or declarations of love. There are many other beautiful moments, filled with warmth, family and togetherness that merit the gift of a rose. One thing is certain: with this creation as the centrepiece of your dining table, your Christmas dinner is guaranteed to be off to a good start.
Materials for the romantic Christmas star:
- Star-shaped floral foam
- Cinnamon sticks in various sizes
- Dried leaves
- Wrapping wire (in this example: gold buillon wire)
- Christmas greenery (in this example: Cryptomeria Rasen)
- ittle Christmas baubles on a wire
- Rhodos roses
- Pincushion moss
We opted for the Rhodos rose because of its sturdy stem and its vigorous, long-lasting flower head. Cinnamon sticks also retain their fragrance long and are lovely in combination with the gold wire. Of course, you can give this arrangement your own personal twist, as long as the shape and the colour produce a well-balanced effect.
Tip from the designer
- The star had to retain its shape! Regularly take a look from above to see if the star shape is still discernible.
- By inserting the roses at varying heights, your creation will have real depth. It will look as if the roses are simply bursting out of the star shape!
