TIPS & TRICKS | Get your flower shop ready for spring!

Flower stylist Bianca Vreugdenhil knows the ropes as no other. New season, new products. Bianca: “With the new collection of pots in stock, that what is left over from last season will normally be put on sale. But what if you can still sell them against their original price?”

Bianca: “Take a turn around the shop every week and gather the ‘leftovers’. One lonely, pink bud vase, a green pot, a few loose shells, maybe some scraps left over from a workshop. Pick up the few extra stems that were left over from the bouquets or that came in broken.”

Make little sets of what you have gathered. Bianca: “It’s lots of fun and good for your sales. Customers love ready-made pieces. They like pretty arrangements or sets but don’t know how to do it themselves. And if the 3 stems of flowers in that cute, little bud vase have gone over, they can come back and buy new stems from you. It’s a great way to start a conversation!”

Lengthen the joy of bulbs! Bianca: “Spring is gorgeous but with the days getting warmer, bulbs also flower quicker. Use them up in bouquet before they are ripe for the bin. Get rid of the soil, put them on a stick et voila.”

“Are there more flowers or bulbs, which are a bit too far open to be sold? They are still useable. Challenge yourself to create something new. Try out new ideas for a bridal bouquet as they require more open flowers anyway. They are also perfect for creating a bouquet for social media. This way, flowers still have value, for advertisement purposes in this case.”
