Advent wreaths – Be inspired!

Advent and making advent wreaths is for many people the moment when the Christmas joy begins. Traditional, modern, in different sizes… be inspired by these stunning advent wreaths.

A traditional advent wreath inherited several requirements from its religious origin. For example, it must have 4 candles in the same colour (purple for the Catholic church). The wreath itself is plainly decorated with different types of greenery and only a few flowers.

The first candle is lit on the fourth Sunday before Christmas (3 December). One candle is lit on every consecutive Sunday until the last Sunday before Christmas (the birth of Jesus). The candles symbolise the coming light in dark days. The word ‘advent’ is derived from the latin ‘adventus’ meaning arrival.

Nowadays, there are many takes on the traditional version from table centres to hanging wreaths, from basic to extravagant. See a few of our examples below and create your own amazing Advent wreath. Or find more inspiration at our Pinterestboard #Wreaths.
