Griebling Keramik has been supplying its unique ceramic pots and saucers to FleuraMetz for many years. Purchasers Lianne Kneppers van den Burg paid the company a visit, so they could compile new collections and follow the creative process with their own eyes! Care to join them?
“The raw material for the pots is extracted locally, and arrives at the factory in powder form. After it is mixed with rainwater, it’s pressed into rolls of clay, whereby all the air is removed [photo 1]. The clay rolls are cut into pieces, depending on the pot size, then sent to the machine, where the pot is pressed [photo 2].

After pressing, the pots are sent to a drying cabin for four hours [photos 3 + 4]. One nice touch is that this cabin uses the heat generated in the kiln in a process called heat recovery.

The pots are ready for baking after drying, for which Griebling Keramik uses a fully automatic kiln. The pots are left inside on heat-resistant trays for seven hours at 900 °C. [photos 5 + 6]"

Then the pots are stacked on pallets, ready for storage. [photo 7]"
“As soon as an order is received, the pots are sprayed in the desired colour. They are first heated to around 180 °C, then Griebling Keramik sprays them with a powder coating. This is free from heavy metals and solvents, so the workplace is clean and safe for employees. There are two spray booths, so pots can be made with different edges. [photo 8]
After colouring, the pots are baked at 200 °C for ten minutes, which makes the colours durable and the pots virtually watertight. The pots are then sent to the packaging department, where the order is packaged according to the specific wishes of the customer. The pallet is completely sealed in a sealing machine, after which the order is ready for shipment. [photo 9]
