GUEST BLOG | Florists of the future

Flower arranger Marloes Joore shows young children how to discover their creative talent with the project 'Discover your talent at primary school'. A large group of pupils learn to arrange flowers and Marloes tells all about it! Even some creative talents were spotted.

At the primary school of Marloes´ children, parents could enrol to teach the children an interesting workshop. Marloes organised a workshop in flower arranging, but there were also workshops on cooking, theatre, boot camp, gaming and photography. No less than 22 children had signed up for the workshop. Marloes: “I divided them into two groups, and both groups took part in two lessons.”

Marloes: “We worked on floral jewellery in the first lesson. We started with a corsage, and after that, I showed some examples of bracelets, chains, wreaths and more. I saw so many fun variations!”

“The week after that, the children brought a small dish from home. They each made a flower cake on them, wrapped around some leaves using pins or a fun ribbon, ready for the flowers to be arranged. Of course, including a butterfly pin or bee pin!

We also transformed bottles into vases by using all kinds of materials. Think about beads, wire, pearls, ribbon, wool, cord, feathers and even Scoubidou strings. They used germini or cluster roses in the vases. There was a variety of some very pretty vases because we used so many different materials. It was great!”
