In this guest blog, the interior coach shows you the way in the interior trend of 2019: Casa botanica. Tropical palms, plants from your own cuttings and green walls: they’re all part of this trend. "It’s very relaxing for the body and soul to be surrounded by greenery."

“People are becoming more and more conscious of the benefits of plants in the home. As well as being very healthy, plants in the home represent innovation, just like the colour green. A balanced amount of greenery in your interior ensures peace of mind and creates an optimistic environment, a fantastic combination which explains why this trend isn’t going away."

“The big plants that people like in their homes are MonsteraAlocasiaAlocasia zebrinaStrelitzia and the banana plant. These plants occupy lot of space, and soon fill a home with green. For some extra green accents, small plants such as the pancake plantstip begoniaCalathea and ferns do very well. Using several small plants gives a room a jungle atmosphere. The Scindapsus pictus is a good choice if you want a nice variegated leaf. Hanging plants, such as the pea plant, are also very popular, because they’re easy to take care of. The Kokodama is a real hanging eye catcher, ideal for filling an empty space, and adding a playful note to any interior."

“You can complete your urban jungle with botanical wallpaper, a green wall, wall maps, or other vintage accessories. Adding animal prints or designs brings everything to life. In the urban jungle interior, it’s definitely a case of more is more, so use lots of accessories, and don't be afraid to combine things."
