This product is also called Pineapple plant named for the crown of flowers, which many people resemble with a pineapple. The bulbs of Eucomis 'Sparkling Burgundy' come from South Africa, Aloha lilly "Waikiki" and Aloha lilly "Honolulu" from California. From now on, they’re supplied daily in Aalsmeer, this will be so until mid-September. Eucomis species are known to the flowers an unpleasant odour. But three species that grower Turfspoor supplies, have a very pleasant sweet smell. Check the website of the breeder for more information.
Leucocoryne originates from Chile, it got the English nickname "Glory of the Sun". The article was introduced in Europe in 1939 and after all those years back in full at the auction to obtain. Meanwhile, attempts are made to bring these flowers on the market as early as April and that will happen from 2011 with the species "Dione". Breeders are still looking for other cultivars that with the same treatment will catch on positively to offer diversity. The flowers are usually purple and/or blue, fresh smelling and have a shelf life of +/- 10 days. Per stem there often are 3 to 5 flowers.
Available again for this season's is rosehip black, although availability is limited. Also available again are the first Karmozijnbes and rosehip Corallo. Also available are the first SF Malus red apple, loose in boxes. The branches are slightly later, around the end of August.
